FAQ

Questions we get asked

Straight answers about the gear, the day, the money, and the mountains.

The package

What comes with a rental package?

A snowboard, bindings set up to you at the counter, boots in your size, and a helmet. Nothing is an add-on: the price on the page is the price.

Which package should I choose?

Sport if you are learning or ride a few days a season and want a forgiving board. Performance if you ride edge to edge, want a stiffer or a powder-shaped board, or want step-on bindings. Kids for riders on boards up to about 135 cm. If you are between two, book the cheaper one and we will swap at the counter if the fit says so.

How do you size me?

You tell us your boot size, height, weight, stance, and how you ride; we pick the length and set the bindings at the counter. Every package has the board length and boot size listed, so you can filter online before you hold one. Tell us honestly. A binding set for a 200-pound expert is no fun under a 120-pound beginner.

Do you rent boots or helmets on their own?

Not online. Ask at the counter; if we have your size free that day, we will sort it out.

The day

How does a rental day work?

A day runs from when we open until we open the next morning. Pick up at 8:00 am on your first day and bring the gear back by 8:00 am the morning after your last day, or any time we are open on the last day itself. Three days means Friday morning to Monday morning.

Can I pick up the afternoon before?

Online bookings start at opening time on the first day. If an afternoon-before pickup would help, call the shop; we can often arrange it at the counter.

What if I am late bringing it back?

Gear returned after opening on the morning it is due is charged as another rental day. Call before the deadline and we will usually find a better answer than the charge.

The money

Is there a deposit?

A card hold placed at pickup: $100 for a sport package, $250 for performance, $50 for kids. It is released at return. Damage beyond normal wear comes out of it, with photographs. Base scratches and topsheet chips are normal wear; a core shot or a snapped board is not.

What is your cancellation policy?

Cancel 24 hours or more before pickup for a full refund, online from the lookup on the booking page. Inside 24 hours, call us and we will try to move the date. If the highway to your resort is closed by CDOT, tell us before pickup and you choose a new date or a refund. The full terms are on the policies page.

Is there a multi-day discount?

Yes, and it is on the page rather than a phone call: two, three, five, and seven-day prices are listed for every package, and a week costs about the same as five separate days.

The mountains

Where can I ride?

Anywhere in Colorado. Our mountain pages cover the resorts a Front Range rider actually drives to, with the resort's own stats and the road to get there, and the conditions page lists the reports and road rules we check before we drive.

Can I take the gear into the backcountry?

The gear is rented for lift-served, in-bounds riding. Backcountry travel carries avalanche risk we have not assessed for you; if you go, that is your call and your responsibility, and the Colorado Avalanche Information Center forecast is the first thing to read.

Do I need chains or snow tires?

On I-70 in winter, often yes by law, not just by good sense. CDOT's passenger-vehicle traction law is explained with its source on the conditions page; check it the night before.

Ready to ride?

Pick a package and a day online; we hold the gear for fifteen minutes while you finish the booking.
