From the Front Range
Winter Park calls itself the closest major mountain destination to Denver at 67 miles: I-70 west to US-40, then over Berthoud Pass. The pass is the part that decides your day; it is steep, high, and closes in storms, so read the road page before you leave.
The mountain
Seven territories under one ticket: Winter Park and Mary Jane, plus Parsenn Bowl, Vasquez Ridge, Eagle Wind, and the Cirque. The resort's statistics page gives 3,081 acres, a 9,000-foot base, a 12,060-foot summit, 23 lifts, and a breakdown that leans hard toward the difficult end: 8 percent beginner, 18 intermediate, 19 advanced, 52 most difficult, and 3 expert only. Average snowfall is stated as over 344.6 inches.
Parks
Seven parks: Bouncer, Starter Park, Ash Cat, Gangway, Re-railer, Rail Yard, and Lower Rail Yard (formerly Dark Territory; no pass is required for it any more), with an 18-foot superpipe in the Upper Rail Yard.
Season and hours
The 2025-26 season's last day was April 19, 2026. For 2026-27 the resort says it will open as soon as possible, with weekend lifts at 8:00 am from December 5, 2026 to April 4, 2027.
Rules worth knowing
- The uphill policy we could read is the 2024-25 revision: access only between 4:00 am and 8:00 pm, a signed policy and a purchased armband for every uphill user (splitboards included), and never in terrain parks or on closed trails. Check the current season's revision on the resort's site before you go.
Everywhere in Colorado, the Ski Safety Act and the Responsibility Code apply, including the rule that every board carries a leash or other retention device.
